BEATRICE – An Odell man was treated for minor injuries after the pickup he was driving went off a road and flipped, late Friday night, about four miles north of the community.

Gage County Sheriff’s investigators say 64-year-old Michael Renz was driving a southbound 2014 RAM pickup on Southwest 61st Road when the vehicle entered the west ditch.

The truck continued until it neared West Pine Road, where the driver attempted to steer back onto the roadway.

Authorities say Renz overcorrected and the vehicle skidded across Southwest 61st and entered the east ditch.   The pickup impacted the slope of the ditch, causing it to flip over and come to rest on its side, in a pasture.

Renz was taken by ambulance to Beatrice Community Hospital for treatment of injuries.   The party that reported the accident observed a person attempting to get out of the vehicle.

Odell Fire and Rescue and Beatrice Fire and Rescue were sent to the scene.  Odell Rescue officials were able to free the driver, who was the lone occupant, from the vehicle.    Sheriff’s officers say Renz was not wearing a seatbelt, but an airbag in the truck deployed.  The accident happened just after 11 p.m., Friday.
