Edward Francis Claeys was born on October 25, 1937, in Axtell, Kansas to Edward & Rose (Vondenkamp) Claeys.  Edward passed away on November 25, 2019 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury Nebraska at the age of 82.

Edward graduated high school in Axtell Kansas.  He entered the Navy May of 1955 and was discharged October 1958 with honorable honors.   Edward was in the Commandant Ninth Naval District.  His last duty was in Antarctica. 

Edward married Edna Lee Creevan on January 21, 1964 in Beattie Kansas.  To this union 5 daughters were born.  Edward and Edna spent most of their lives as custom harvesters in the summers from Texas to North Dakota.  When Edward no longer went harvesting in the summer, he harvested for many friends around the Reynolds Nebraska area.   Edward retired in 2015. 

He is survived by wife, Edna Claeys of Fairbury Ne.  Brother Joseph Claeys (Judy) of Salina Ks, Sister Susan Hillman (Gordon) of Camp Verde Az, Children Lori Ehler (Trai) of Fairbury Ne; Debra DeBoer (Dan) of Fairbury Ne; Carol Pachta (Phillip) of Belleville Ks; Patricia Stephens (special friend Mike) of Omaha, Ne, Charlotte Tietjen (Tyler) of Byron Ne. Grandchildren Clay Ehler (Kellie), Whitney Brooks (Aaron), Neal Ehler, Nicole DeBoer, Seth DeBoer (finance Amy), Tyler DeBoer, Adam Allison (Megan), Ashley Pachta, Trevor Pachta, Kade Stephens, Cheyenne Stephens, Kolby Stephens, Logan Tietjen, Natalie Tietjen, Taylor Tietjen, Paige Tietjen.   Great Grandchildren Reese Ehler, Westin Brooks, Monroe Brooks, Theodore DeBoer, Emma Allison.  Many nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.

He is preceded in death by, parents Edward & Rose Claeys, sister Margorie Claeys Mainey, brother Charles Claeys, nephew Dion Hillman.

There was a cremation.  A memorial service will be held on December 7, 2019 at 2pm at Gerdes – Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury Ne.  Rosary will be Dec 6, 2019 7pm at Gerdes – Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury Ne.  Burial of Ashes will be at a later date in Arizona. 

Memorials are directed in the care of the family.
