BEATRICE, Neb. - A wet start to the month of July continues for southeast Nebraska.
Early Thursday morning, heavy rain and thunderstorms impacted just about the entire region bringing torrential downpours, lightning and thunder. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Gage County around 3:00 a.m. Thursday, lasting until 3:30 a.m.
The main impact was heavy rain, with .6" recorded at the KWBE studios in west Beatrice... One caller on the KWBE morning show reported an inch of rain in their rain gauge at an unspecified location.
The National Weather Service also reported high winds in Lincoln, with one weather spotter recording a gust of 64 MPH.
Other NWS 24-hour rain reports include 0.84" in Swanton and 0.45" in Friend in Saline County... 0.84" in Roca in Lancaster County... and 1.01" in Seward.
The chance of rain and a few storms sticks around for most of the day on Thursday.
