Public Transit Week starts Monday
Sidney Public Transportation offering incentives through the week
SIDNEY – Public Transit Week starts Monday, and Sidney’s Transportation Director Kasey Kantor is excited to share the program with the community.
“We really love Public Transit Week because we get to show our drivers and our riders what we are capable of doing, how much we appreciate them riding with us, and our drivers obviously working for us and how much they care for the riders and everything like that. Last week I had the opportunity to go to Lincoln to the State Capitol, and we got to sign a proclamation with Governor Pillen,” Kantor said.
He said it was a lot of fun watching the proclamation process.
“Getting up there, getting to meet him, standing next to him, and just show the people of Nebraska what public transportation is about. I mean, we have over 50 transportations in the state of Nebraska that covers over 89 counties,” he said.
He said the number of transportation programs indicates how much of the state is served by public transportation.
“We’re really proud of what we’re able to do, and that the State of Nebraska covers us,” he said.
Public Transit Week:
• Tuesday: (St. Patrick’s Day) If you wear green, your friend can ride with you for free.
• Plans for Wednesday are still in the works.

• Free Ride Friday, sponsored by Sidney Regional Medical Center.
“We are Monday through Friday, 7 to 5 o’clock. We do cover a lot of hours. We do cover a lot of different people, I mean from our youth, to our working class to our elderly,” he said.
