Paving soon to start on east Beatrice Lincoln Street, between 25th and 27th

BEATRICE – Installation of paving on a stretch of east Lincoln Street in Beatrice could get underway sometime next week.
“Most of the storm sewer inlets and pipe are in the ground. They are currently working on the road sub-base….they’re hoping…barring weather, especially coming up this weekend…they’re hoping to get it trimmed and ready for paving to start next week.”
Lincoln Street between 25th and 27th is getting a new concrete surface.
City Engineer James Burroughs says preliminary work is being done for this year’s street milling and overlay projects…including ramp construction at intersections and alleys.
Burroughs says a contractor doing armor coat maintenance on several street sections is scheduled to come in next week.
“It’s about a two-day process once they get in. So, we’ve sent out letters to adjacent property owners along those corridors….putting it out on social media. It will be next week sometime whenever they can get in here. Normally it’s pretty quick and painless….but just trying to let everyone know.”
The Beatrice Board of Public Works also heard that work to replace some overhead electric lines and to complete substation repairs and maintenance is progressing.
