Beatrice Baking Company shutting down this month
A longtime Beatrice baked goods staple is closing up shop
BEATRICE - A longtime Beatrice baked goods staple is closing up shop. The Beatrice Bakery Company announced Wednesday it will be shutting its doors at the end of March.
Tapping into a long history of successful baked goods sales at this facility on Beatrice's Bell Street, Beatrice Bakery Company has been making and selling breads, fruitcakes and other goodies for 24 years.
The current ownership first took over the territory from the former Grandma's Bake Shoppe brand in 2002, extending a confectionery and culinary history that originated at this location back in 1964.
In a release Wednesday, the bakery said: "After thoughtfully exploring successions plans for the company’s future, the current ownership group came to the difficult decision to close the doors and this chapter of the Beatrice Bakery Company."
“We believe closing in a planned and structured way honors the legacy of the business and the relationships developed over 30 years,” said Jamie Renshaw on behalf of the Board of Directors. “This company has meant a great deal to many people over the years. We are proud that we have been able to keep the bakery going since we purchased it in 2001 out of bankruptcy and keep jobs in Beatrice, and we are deeply grateful to the employees, customers, and partners who supported it.”
Some products will remain available online while supplies last and at their physical storefront until April 1, 2026.
They say they are currently seeking "buyers interested in carrying on the storied history and beloved traditional recipes." They said in the release that they will not be responding to further interview requests at this time; interested parties are encouraged to contact Lori Lovell or Lane Yard for more information about the facility.
