BEATRICE – Thousands of students went there and hundreds taught classes there…..but the end of an era is at hand.  The former Lincoln Elementary School in east Beatrice was being turned into rubble, starting Monday.

The elementary building, along with Paddock Lane Elementary will be demolished.

The former Stoddard Elementary School in south Beatrice will be redeveloped into senior housing units.  City officials have not yet decided what to do with the former Cedar Elementary School site in the west part of the city.

The City of Beatrice acquired the elementary school buildings from District 15 and at Lincoln and Paddock Lane sites….new housing is planned.   The old school buildings, constructed back in the 1950s, have been replaced by a single-site pre-kindergarten to fifth grade building at the east edge of the city.

Some of the buildings had been removed so far, from the Paddock Lane site....including temporary buildings which are being hauled away.
