BEATRICE – One of the Gage County Board races has lost a candidate, to a missed deadline.

Gage County Clerk Dawn Hill says Republican Gene Radar Reedy, of Blue Springs did not file his Statement of Financial Interests form with the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission by a required deadline.  That means Reedy is no longer on the May Primary ballot.

His Republican opponent, Rex Adams, a former county supervisor, now advances automatically to the General Election.

There is still a contested race on the Democratic side in the primary for District 6, which is the southeast part of Gage County…including Wymore, Blue Springs, Virginia, Liberty and Barneston.

Incumbent Democrat Don Schuller faces a challenge from Sue Davis and former board member John A. Hill.  The winner of that primary race moves on to face Rex Adams in the General Election.

Meanwhile, the Gage County Clerks Office began mailing out early voting ballots…..over 3,000 of them, on Monday.   Voters have until 8 p.m., May 14th, Election Day….to return them.

This is the first year a new voter I.D. law in Nebraska takes effect.
