Inmate dies while serving sentence at RTC

An inmate died on Monday while he was serving his sentence in Lincoln.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- An inmate died on Monday while he was serving his sentence in Lincoln.

Officials said 52-year-old Jose Cabrera-Lomeli was announced dead on Feb. 26 at the Reception and Treatment Center.

Cabrera-Lomeli was reportedly being treated for a medical condition at the time of his death but no actual cause of death has be determined at this moment.

According to court documents, Cabrera-Lomeli was serving a sentence of 160-220 years at RTC for several counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child in Sarpy County. His sentenced started on Oct. 2, 2023.
