LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Patrol said they arrested one person following a pursuit, during which the suspected rammed his vehicle into an NSP cruiser and injured a trooper.

Troopers said around 12:40 p.m. Monday, a trooper saw a Ford Fusion speeding at 100 mph on Interstate 80 in Lincoln.

NSP said the trooper tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop and fled heading west. This was when the trooper said they initiated a pursuit.

During the pursuit, NSP said the driver passed several vehicles on the shoulder and continued speeding west at more than 100 mph.

When the vehicle got to the Milford interchange, the trooper said they exited and reentered I-80 traveling east towards Lincoln.

The NSP said their AirWing took over the pursuit from the air as the vehicle continued to speed through the Lincoln area.

After passing through Lincoln, NSP said their patrol units continued their pursuit on the ground.

Around 1:15 p.m., authorities said that the suspect's vehicle rammed into a trooper's patrol vehicle causing both vehicles to roll near mile marker 422.

The trooper's cruiser came to a rest in the median. The suspect's vehicle crossed the westbound lanes and came to a rest in the north ditch.

The NSP said they suspect was taken into custody without any further incident.

The trooper was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect reportedly refused medical treatment at the scene and has been taken to Lancaster County Jail.

Charges are pending as the investigation remains ongoing.

I-80 was closed for both directions of travel for about 75 minutes.
