BEATRICE – Motorists will be adjusting for a traffic change starting this week, as Court Street through downtown Beatrice is closed, allowing for water main replacement work to proceed.

Court Street will be closed between Second and Seventh Streets. A road sign and electronic sign directing westbound traffic north onto Ella Street was put in place, early Monday…..at 19th and Court.

City officials say the closure, which will last about six weeks, is necessary to ensure work crew safety and allow the project to be done before the holiday shopping season hits.

During the closure, eastbound traffic at Second Street will be routed south, to Market Street.  Local traffic can access downtown businesses using adjacent streets or alleys….and there are public parking lots available for use in the downtown area.

Construction crew members will be replacing downtown water mains that are upwards of 100 years old….and installing several new water tap connections to businesses.

Parking lots available
