Lincoln man found guilty of possessing, distributing child porn

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A Lincoln man has been found guilty for possessing 1,400 files of child pornography as well as distribution.
Acting U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr said that 71-year-old Richard E. Tripp was found guilty on Friday by a jury in a federal court in Lincoln.
Tripp was convicted of one count of possession of child porn and one count of distribution of child porn.
The court said sentencing has been set for Nov. 9, 2023 at 1 p.m. before Senior United State Judge John M. Gerrard.
Tripp faces a sentence of 15 to 40 years in prison for the distribution count. He faces a sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison for the possession count.
Court documents said that Imgur, LLC reported uploads of 38 suspected child porn images to the National Center for Missing and Exploited children (NCMEC).
Following the report, NCMEC issued Cybertipline Reports to investigators for Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, and investigative unit of the Nebraska State Patrol.
Based on information from the reports, investigators said they were able to determine the images were uploaded to the internet from Tripp's home in Lincoln, where he was living with two registered sex offenders.
Investigators said that after examining his devices, they found more than 1,400 files containing child porn involving prepubescent children, toddlers and infants.
The court said some of the children were shown in images where they were subjected to bondage, and some were subjected to bestiality.
Tripp is a registered sex offender, convicted of two counts of sexual assault of a child in the first degree in 2007. There were two victims involved in the 2007 case.
This case was investigated by the NSP.
