FAIRBURY - The Fairbury Rural Fire Department is extending its burn ban to May 1.

According to department personnel, No open burning permits will be issued until at least that time, and any permits previously issued are recalled.

Barry Schwab with the Fairbury Rural Fire Department reminds residents that this burn ban applies only to the Fairbury Rural Fire District.  "We don't have any say over what other fire districts do, nor are we typically kept apprised of their decisions, so information about current open burning policies in those other fire districts will have to be obtained from them."
