Lady Jeffs win, boys take second at Dan Tesar Invite

FAIRBURY, NE — The Fairbury Track and Field teams had a good day at the Dan Tesar Invite at Tri County Schools Tuesday.

FAIRBURY, NE — The Fairbury Track and Field teams had a good day at the Dan Tesar Invite at Tri County Schools Tuesday. 

The Lady Jeffs ran away with the win with a team score of 162. Lincoln Christian finished second with 94 points. Fairbury's boys finished second, posting 76 points as a team. Wilber-Clatonia won the boys side with a score of 173. 

Part of the Lady Jeffs success came from the pole vault. Mikya Lierman posted a school record height of 10' 9" in the event. That breaks the old record — also held by Lierman — of 10' 1". Two other competitors from Fairbury finished in the top five. Jami Mans earned second with a 9' mark while Lily Davis earned fifth with a mark of 8'. 

Mans also won the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.49. Emily Huss won the 300m hurdles for the Lady Jeffs posting a time of 52.40. Fairbury also took second and third in the event with Mans time of 54.74 and Karly McCord's 55.94. 

Allison Davis posted a win in the high jump with a mark of 5'. Sam Starr won the 800m race with a time of 2:37.78. 

In total, the Lady Jeffs had a top five finish in every event except for two on the day. 

On the boys side, Zane Grizzle won the 100m sprint with a time of 11.84 seconds. James Olds finished third with a time of 11.99 seconds.

Devon Carel claimed the 400 meter gold with a time of 52.50. He also finished second in the 800m race with a time of 2:10.96. 

Alex Buxton earned second and third place finishes in the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles, respectively. Jax Biehl finished runner-up in the high jump with a height of 5'8". 

Next up for Fairbury Track and Field York invite on Saturday.
