Garry D McIntosh 84, of DeWitt, NE passed away March 3, 2026 in Beatrice, NE.  He was born March 25, 1941, in Newman Grove, NE to Harvey and Francis (Weiand) McIntosh. As a young man growing up in Newman Grove, NE he took over all the farming duties when his Dad became ill until his mom moved to town. 

 He originally came to DeWitt while working for Midwest Bridge on the road crew paving the streets in town and eventually making this his home.  He worked for the Village of DeWitt before going to work for Behrens Construction in Beatrice, NE.  He then got a job with Saline County running the road grater where he spent over 20 years before retiring.  After retiring he worked for Duane Wollenburg on the farm along with the Township of Clatonia.  He enjoyed being active and outdoors.

Garry enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and watching his grandkids school activities and sports. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved gardening while he was able to, as well as being on his tractors whether it was plowing gardens, moving snow and even mowing yards. He also enjoyed watching old western movies. 

 He was a member of the DeWitt Community Club where he served as President for several years, and DeWitt Historical Society where he cooked hamburgers and hotdogs for DeWitt Days. He also served on the Town Board and was on the Senior Diner Board.  He was a past member of the DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department.

 He was a member of St Augustine’s Episcopal Church of DeWitt and most recently a member of DeWitt United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. 

He and his wife Janet were the promoters of the Annual Gospel Sing in DeWitt which they hosted for 26 years.  They also traveled to many places where they sang in churches, concerts, nursing homes, and outdoor sings all over the Midwest. 

 Garry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet (Chrastil) McIntosh, Brother Chester McIntosh of Tilden, NE. Daughters Gerri Diane (Kevin) Sagger of Oxnard, CA, Kathy Sherry of WI, and Brenda (Robin) Pilkinton of DeWitt, NE, son Roy (Rebecca) Schwisow of Beatrice, NE. Grandchildren Mariah and Kelsey Sherry of WI, Emily (Patrick) Campbell of Kearney, NE, Jason Schwisow of Lincoln, NE, Whitney Schwisow of Milwaukee, WI, Riley Schwisow of Natchitoches, LA and Callie Schwisow of Beatrice, NE and Great Grandchildren, Xander, Ledger, Ryker and Carley Campbell, all of Kearney, NE as well as nieces, nephews and cousins

 Preceded in death by his parents Harvey McIntosh, Francis (George) Andrews, Brother Donovan McIntosh, Sisters Lavera Jane McIntosh, Norma Jean Lich, and Janet Cosby. Sister-In-Laws Mary Jo McIntosh and Shirley McIntosh and Brother-In-Laws Harold Lich and Larry Cosby. Son-In-Law Jim Sherry. Granddaughter Beaudy Schwisow. Nieces, nephews and cousins.

 A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.
