Beatrice School Board fills member vacancy

BEATRICE – A Beatrice woman who served several years representing those in the public school system is back on the Board of Education.

Janet Byars returns to the Beatrice School Board and was given the oath of office by Superintendent Jason Alexander, at Monday night’s first regular meeting of 2026.

She will serve the rest of an unexpired term on the school board.  Late last year, Marissa Centeno resigned her position on the Beatrice School Board. There are three years remaining on the term..

During an annual reorganization meeting, the board elected Eric Trusty to serve again, as President of the School Board…..and Doris Martin as Vice President.   Committee assignments were also finalized.

The Beatrice Public School District honored as their Employee of the Month, Kayla Boellstorff….a science teacher at Beatrice High School.
