Gage County finalizes elected officials pay for the upcoming term
Plan grants pay increases ranging from four percent to six percent
BEATRICE – The Gage County Board of Supervisors has set salary levels for county elected positions for the new four-year term to begin in January of 2027. The resolution approved Wednesday, December 17th, sets the starting pay level at $94,271 for the offices of elected assessor, clerk, treasurer, register of deeds and clerk of district court.
Positions of deputies in elected offices will make 75-percent of the elected officials salaries….in most cases, $70,703.
The top paid elected official salaries starting in 2027 will be the county attorney, at nearly $141,400…and the sheriff, at $117,042.
The county surveyor position will start in 2027, at $28,729.
Pay increases are included in the salaries through the remaining three years of the elected term. County elected officials receive a six percent pay increase in the second year of the term, and then five-percent and four-percent increases in the remaining two years.
Gage County Board members, starting in 2027, will be paid a salary of nearly $34,705. The board Chairman will make nearly $40,503…..while the Vice-Chairman will be paid $36,154.
All Gage County elected officials and deputies are eligible to receive health insurance and a retirement plan.
By state law, counties are required to set salary levels for the elected positions no later than January 15th during the year of a general election for the offices.
