'He should be in New York': Rhule makes case for Emmett Johnson Heisman run

LINCOLN, Neb. - In another Husker win, running back Emmett Johnson shined. 

In Nebraska's 28-21 win, Johnson found the end zone three times for the third time this year. Head Coach Matt Rhule made his case for the junior running back on Monday morning, spending over four minutes of his 33 minute press conference listing off accolade after accolade. 

In the form of 14 different stats, Rhule made his case for Johnson to be in New York as a Heisman candidate

"I personally think Emmett Johnson should in New York as a Heisman candidate," Rhule said. "I think he should be a Doak Walker Award finalist... I hope people appreciate seeing him. He's a first team All-American."

Johnson accounted for a career high 232 scrimmage yards against the Bruins, becoming the first player in the Big Ten to record over 100 rushing yards and 125 receiving yards in 30 years. He also leads the nation in scrimmage yards with 1,431 yards in 10 games. 

Johnson was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. He's the first Husker to receive the honor since Anthony Grant in 2022.
