Rockford Road resurfacing east of Beatrice, nearly complete

BEATRICE – A road that leads to a state recreation area southeast of Beatrice is about to be a lot smoother.
Resurfacing work has been done along South 94th Road….known as the Rockford State Recreation Area Road…..south of U.S. Highway 136.
Gage County Highway Superintendent Mark Kuhnke says the project should be completed in the next few days.
"They're on track to finishing up on Friday. There may be a little bit of striping and painting on the roads that may bleed into next week. There were two blowouts while we were doing the overlay. So far, we're only about thirty tons over on patching....which I take pretty good, considering what that road was like."
The paving extends from U.S. 136 south to East Lilac Road. It does not include the paved road around the east side of the lake. That is a Nebraska Game and Parks project and so far, funding has not been committed to repaving that section.
