Darlena "Dolly" (Workman) Sullivan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darlena Sue "Dolly" (Workman) Sullivan, on March 20th, 2025. Born on March 7th, 1970, in Beatrice, Nebraska, Darlena was a beacon of creativity and thoughtfulness, always bringing a unique perspective to the world around her. A 1988 graduate of Southern High School, she furthered her education and passion for the arts by earning an Associate's Degree in Commercial Art from Universal Tech in Omaha, and an Associate's Degree in Tour and Travel from Lincoln School of Commerce. Her creativity was not confined to her studies alone; she was also an avid knitter, crocheter, painter, and reader. Her artistic endeavors brought joy to everyone who was lucky enough to witness them.
Darlena played softball and volleyball growing up in Wymore. Professionally, she worked for the Department of Revenue in the incoming mail room. Her faith was an important part of her life; she was a past member of the 1200 Church in Tallahassee, where she enjoyed making birthday cakes for her Sunday School classmates and the Wymore Church of Christ, where she assisted with the youth group. The essence of Darlena's life was her family, to whom she was deeply devoted.
She shared her life with her loving husband, Gerard Sullivan, whom she married on June 24th, 2017 at Dune Allen Beach in Santa Rosa, Florida. She is survived by her sister, Fracia Workman, and her brothers, David Workman and Mathew Workman; sisters-in-law, Connie Roberts, Mary Sullivan, Liz (Dave) Bogucki, Anna Marie Moon, and Julie Blamasah; several nieces and nephews; aunt, Carol (Gale) Ganshorn; uncle, Jerry (Holly) Kruger; and a host of extended family and friends. Darlena was preceded in death by her parents, Richard "Dick" and Dorothy Workman; brother, Sam Workman; grandparents, Pete and Darlene Workman and Walter and Gertrude Kruger; uncle, Darwin and Sharon Kruger; and parents-in-law, Andrew and Anna Sullivan.
A private celebration of Dolly's life will be held at a later date. We warmly invite you to share your memories and photos of Darlena on her memorial page at www.ghchapel.com, as we remember her creative spirit, her thoughtful nature, and the love she had for her family and friends.
These arrangements have been entrusted to the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore, Nebraska.
