Fairbury celebrates Halloween with pair of events
With events downtown and at Cedarwood, Fairbury celebrated Halloween 2024 with a pair of fun festive events
FAIRBURY, Neb. - With scores of costumed people parading through the downtown square, and one enclosed community pulling out all the decorative stops, Fairbury commemorated Halloween 2024 with a pair of fun events on Thursday night.
First, a few hundred people came through the downtown square for a community Trunk or Treat. Folks representing local businesses and organizations got into the spirit as costumed citizens circled the square for more than an hour. The city provided hot dogs, the VFW provided popcorn, one large trailer provided some scares, and just about everyone else was there to provide the candy.
It’s not quite Christmas but later in the night, just a few miles north, the residents and staff at the Cedarwood assisted living center more than decked the halls, walls and doors with festive regalia.
The centerpiece of the show was the pathway to the courtyard. Staff members said that the bad weather and high winds this week made it tougher to set it all up and keep it all upright, but the effort was certainly worth it on a cool Thursday night for the holiday.
