LINCOLN – The head of Nebraska's Department of Motor Vehicles is lauding law enforcement efforts cracking down on fraudulent identification documents.

An investigation into the purchase and distribution of fraudulent I-Ds led to felony charges and the arrests of eleven Nebraska men and women on violations of Nebraska State laws on criminal impersonation and identity theft.

After a nearly yearlong investigation which is ongoing....on Tuesday the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles Fraud Investigations Unit in conjunction with Jefferson and Saline County Sheriff Offices, Crete Police and the Omaha Office of Homeland Security Investigations served arrest warrants in Fairbury and Crete. 

A total of eleven suspects were arrested and transported to the local county jail.

Rhonda Lahm, Director of the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles said, “We are pleased the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office has pursued these identity theft-related charges." 

Lahm said it helps further the state's ability to stop criminal activity which victimizes Nebraska citizens.
