Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation announces annual awards

Monetary awards benefit local hospital and organizations or projects that address health and wellness

BEATRICE – The Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation is providing over $255,000 in healthcare grants to BCH and other community projects this year.

Foundation Senior Executive Shelby Watson says the grants focus on enhancing medical and healthcare services and nonprofits that address medical care, health factors and community experience.

Foundation Board President Rich Hovendick says the grant awards reflect the diverse health and wellness needs of the area.

Just over $207,000 in grants were awarded to Beatrice Community Hospital and its clinics, primarily for medical technology and equipment.  The largest individual grant…some $83,000…is for surgical services upgrades.

Just over $48,000 in grants from the Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation are going to community organizations and projects….with the largest…..$20,000….going to Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging for a non-emergency medical transport van.

$207,272 in Grant awards to Beatrice Community Hospital Departments & Clinics:

$50,877.00 - awarded to Acute Care for a remote TOCO monitor, replacement of sleeper couches, and a vein finder.

$5,000.00 - awarded to Case Management for Omron and A&D blood pressure machines.

$6,495.00 - awarded to Cardiopulmonary Department for a T5 Cross Trainer.

$9,000.00 - awarded to the Emergency Department for a blanket warmer.

$1,000.00 - awarded to Facilities for a sitting bench outside of the clinic.

$40,000.00 - awarded to Labor & Delivery for a bedside ultrasound.

$83,200.00 - awarded to Surgical Services for boom upgrades in two OR rooms, a vein finder, eye stretchers, overbed trays, and a MacGrath Video Lamgoscope.

$11,700.00 - awarded to Women’s & Children’s Clinic for nebulizers and a jaundice meter.

$48,097.00 in Grant awards to Gage County Community Nonprofits:

$2,000.00 – awarded to Beatrice Community Preschool for dental screenings

$4,500.00 – awarded to Beatrice Public Schools for sensory tools and motor equipment for elementary students

$20,000.00 – awarded to Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging for a non-emergency medical transport van

$2,100.00 - awarded to CASA of Gage County to fund renovations for a visitation center

$5,400.00 - awarded to Good Samaritan Society for an in-floor wheelchair scale

$5,000.00 – awarded to the Heartland Cancer Foundation to support ten Gage County cancer patients in their healing

$2,000.00 - awarded to Make-A-Wish to support the wish of a Gage County child

$3,000.00 – awarded to Sewing for Babies for the purchase of knitting materials to make cloth materials for babies and families in need

$4,097.00 - awarded to Whispering Acres Tails & Treasures for increased handicap accessibility
