Gage County avoids damage, from Tuesday night severe weather
Downpours, hail, high winds hit areas of Nebraska and Kansas

BEATRICE – Gage County escaped any significant damage from severe thunderstorms Tuesday night, but some areas received beneficial rain of around one inch.
Gage County Emergency Manager Lisa Wiegand said there was little wind, unlike that which did some tree damage in portions of neighboring Jefferson County.
Wiegand said dry conditions still present a bit of a hazard during this harvest time. "Over the weekend, we had six fires in the area just because of the dry conditions during the harvest season....which included two combines."
Jefferson County Emergency Management reported a storm wind gust of 82 miles per hour during Tuesday night’s weather. Some regions across Nebraska and Kansas had hail and high winds which caused some tree damage and a few power outages, as a long line of thunderstorms stretched from central Kansas through Nebraska and into South Dakota.
In Nebraska, some of the most notable damage happened in the area of David City to Columbus. High winds blew a tree onto a camper, trapping a person inside….and strong winds flipped a pivot system and blew out a window at a community center.
