Fairbury nursing home evacuated Wednesday after fire alarm sounds
Jefferson Community Health and Life’s Gardenside Nursing Home was evacuated at around two p.m., when a fire alarm was activated due to smoke in the housekeeping area.
FAIRBURY, Neb -- Residents of a care center in Fairbury were briefly evacuated Wednesday afternoon, after a fire alarm sounded.
Jefferson Community Health and Life’s Gardenside Nursing Home was evacuated at around two p.m., when a fire alarm was activated due to smoke in the housekeeping area.
J-C-H-and-L Facilities Director and Safety Officer Patrick Hoins said fire officials investigated on-site and determine the smoke was caused by a problem with an air handling unit on the roof of Gardenside.
Residents were taken to the Jefferson Community Health and Life north building for a period of time, and returned to Gardenside once fire officials gave the all-clear.
There were no injuries or damage. The fire alarms sounded for about 45 minutes.
