Beatrice police respond to shots fired call, one in custody
BEATRICE – No one was injured when Beatrice Police, the Nebraska State Patrol and Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded Sunday night to a report of shots being fired.
Law officers, along with Beatrice Fire and Rescue, were sent to the Hoyle RV Park at 3800 North 6th, just after eight p.m. Sunday. Law officers said a person armed with a gun was inside an RV. Authorities evacuated several surrounding RVs as a precaution.
A Beatrice Police Special Response Team and a negotiation team was summoned to the scene…and after several hours….police were able to take the suspect into custody. It was later determined that shots fired were fired into the ground….not in the direction of any recreational vehicles or first responders.
A 42-year-old man was taken to a mental health facility for an evaluation. There are no pending charges, at this time.
