LINCOLN, Neb. -- An inmate was announced dead at the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) said 75-year-old Terry Inness was declared dead on Tuesday at the Reception and Treatment Center.

Officials said Inness was serving a sentence of 30- to 40-years that started on March 16, 2011. He was charged for two counts of attempted first-degree sexual assault of a child out in Lancaster County.

According to authorities, the cause of Inness' death has not been determined but he was in treatment for a medical condition before.

As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of NDCS, a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
