House damaged in fire, no injuries

Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a fire cause by fireworks.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a fire cause by fireworks.

Officials said were sent along with LFR to the 5900 block of S 81st Street at 12:09 a.m. on July 5.

The report said neighbors noticed a fire burning on the corner of the residence and began pounding on the door to wake the residents. All residents were able to evacuate the home without injury.

According to authorities, Fire Inspector Brad Hasenjaeger identified the cause of the fire as improperly disposed of fireworks near the home. Damage to the structure is estimated at $170,000.
