Second open house planned, on Lincoln Street Corridor project
City of Beatrice studying ways to improve heavily traveled street, between 5th and 22nd
BEATRICE – A second open house has been scheduled by the City of Beatrice on the Lincoln Street Corridor project. It will be held, May 9th, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Elementary School Gym.
At the open house, potential improvement alternatives will be shared with the public, based on consultant studies of the corridor and public feedback that was received during the first open house, held in March.
City officials say the improvement possibilities to be shared with the public include intersection improvements at 6th, 13th and 19th Streets. They also include pedestrian, bicycle and safety enhancements….lane reconfigurations and on-street parking needs. After the second open house, consultants hired by the city will refine the improvements and submit recommendations for city officials to consider.
Persons attending the May 9th open house are encouraged to use the north parking lot at Lincoln Elementary.
Lincoln Street carries about 5,000 vehicles per day near its intersection with U.S. Highway 77. The corridor under study involves the stretch from 5th Street to 22nd.
