Southeast Nebraska schools close in anticipation of extreme weather

Most southeast Nebraska school districts are closed on Wednesday in an effort to protect students, staff and parents from extreme weather.

LINCOLN - Most southeast Nebraska school districts are closed on Wednesday in an effort to protect students, staff and parents from extreme weather.

Lincoln Public Schools in addition to Waverly, Norris, Palmyra and Freeman school districts are all closed. The National Weather service called Wednesday's weather event "unprecedented." Lancaster County is included in the following advisories: High Wind Warning, Red Flag Warning, Winter Weather Advisory, Extreme Fire Danger and a Dense Fog Advisory was even in effect until 9 AM.
