BEATRICE – Fire personnel were sent to county government offices in a southeast Nebraska community, early Monday.

Beatrice Firefighters were dispatched to the Gage County Courthouse at 1:30 a.m., for an activated fire alarm.   An audible alarm and flashing lights inside the building greeted department personnel pulling up to the scene.  No smoke or fire was visible as they approached.

Firefighters searched the building from the ground floor to the clock tower and attic, while Gage County Sheriff’s Deputies provided exterior security.

No smoke or fire was detected or observed throughout the building.   According to Southeast Communications radio traffic, a fire captain said the issue may have been a problem with a sprinkler.

The matter was turned over to courthouse maintenance personnel, and firefighters left the scene after about fifty minutes.
