Beatrice Police arrest three in weekend domestic incidents
Officers sent to separate physical altercations along North 14th and East Lincoln
By News Channel NebraskaBEATRICE - Beatrice Police have arrested a suspect in a case of strangulation and assault, allegedly involving a pregnant woman.
Police Friday responded to the fourteen hundred block of North 14th where a physical altercation was taking place. Police spoke with the suspect and a woman who is about 20 weeks pregnant.
Police said the pair were involved in a fight. The woman reported having her legs kicked out from under her and a broom handle held across her neck. Police said the woman swung at the man, causing cuts on his face. Police observed that the broom had been bent.
Police arrested 33-year-old Austin Klaus for alleged strangulation, domestic assault and a crime against a pregnant woman.
Friday night, police were called to a separate physical altercation in the seventeen hundred block of Lincoln, where an exterior door to a home had been kicked in. Police entering the residence discovered an altercation taking place in the upstairs part of the home. Police arrested 29-year-old Brett Sawyer on suspicion of 3rd-degree domestic assault, criminal mischief and violating a protection order.
A protection order served on October 12th, 2020….and in force until October 12th of this year, barred Sawyer from contact with the victim.
Police also arrested the female involved in the incident. 34-year-old Jessica Rowden was arrested for 3rd-degree domestic assault. Police said both Sawyer and Rowden had visible injuries from the altercation.
