DEWITT, NE — We now know the names of those involved in a fatal car accident in southeast Nebraska Tuesday morning.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a crash at the intersection of 725 Road and Highway 103 just south of Tri County School around 7:30 AM. A news release says an eastbound sedan driven by 51-year-old Michael Taylor of DeWitt was approaching the highway and didn’t yield to a southbound pickup, driven by 34-year-old Colt Feighner of Wilber, causing the collision.

Dense fog limited visibility to about an eighth of a mile at the time of the accident.

The Sheriff’s Office says Taylor died at the scene. His 16-year-old son was also in the car. He was transported by ambulance to a Lincoln hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Feighner was not hurt. The highway was shut down at the crash scene for at least an hour and a half.

Plymouth Ambulance, Plymouth Fire, Beatrice Fire and Rescue, the Nebraska State Patrol, Saline County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson County Emergency Management all assisted at the scene.
