BEATRICE – Gage County law officers reported details of a two-vehicle rollover accident at U.S. Highway 77 and Elm Road, which happened in dense fog last Thursday morning, March 5th.

A 17-year-old Beatrice male driving a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu was turning south onto the highway from Elm Road, when a northbound 2007 Honda Odyssey, collided with the car.

The van, driven by Jose Rosales, overturned and rolled, coming to rest blocking the northbound lanes.  Both drivers, wearing seatbelts, refused medical attention at the scene.

Law officers say fog was greatly reducing visibility at the time of the accident…8:12 a.m.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue and the Nebraska State Patrol also responded to the accident scene.

Sheriff’s officials also report that during the evening of March 3rd just prior to 11:30 p.m., Gage County deputies say a passing motorist noticed a residential fire while driving along U.S. Highway 77, near Pickrell.

A deputy arriving on scene was able to evacuate two residents from a house fire.  Both were uninjured.  The fire was believed to have started in a chimney.

Pickrell, Cortland and Beatrice Rural Fire and city EMS responded to the scene.
