Pickup and SUV collide

BEATRICE – A two-vehicle collision near a county courthouse sent one person to the hospital, early Tuesday evening.

The crash happened at 7th and Lincoln Streets in Beatrice, next to the Gage County Courthouse.

Beatrice Police, Fire and Rescue were sent there at around 6 p.m. A police sergeant said the driver of a northbound pickup had stopped at a sign, then drove into the intersection, colliding with a westbound sport utility vehicle.

The female driver of the S-U-V was taken by ambulance to Beatrice Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The male driver of the pickup was not hurt.

The colliding vehicles narrowly missed a fire hydrant at the scene, located next to a county parking lot.

Officials cleared the area shortly before eight p.m.
