Fairbury Public Schools completes Superintendent search process

FAIRBURY — The Fairbury Public Schools Board of Education has selected Roger Stumpf as the district’s next superintendent.
The board made the decision during a special meeting Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026. Stumpf was offered the position following interviews and deliberation and has accepted the role. His contract will begin July 1, ahead of the 2026–2027 school year.
Stumpf currently serves as superintendent of USD 306 Southeast of Saline in Kansas, a position he has held since 2018. Prior to becoming superintendent, he served as secondary principal in the district from 2015 to 2018.
In a statement, Board of Education President Angie Judd said Stumpf’s leadership experience and approach closely matched the district’s needs.
“The selected candidate, Mr. Roger Stumpf, demonstrated a leadership profile that aligns closely with the district’s current and future needs, including a strong instructional vision, meaningful use of data to support decision-making, high expectations for all students and staff, and a leadership approach centered on developing people and systems,” Judd said.
Judd added that the board was encouraged by Stumpf’s emphasis on collaboration, visibility, and building a unified district culture focused on student success.
“After much consideration and in light of the collective input received, the Board is confident that Roger is the best fit to lead Fairbury Public Schools forward and to continue the progress we have made together,” she said.
The board also emphasized its commitment to working collaboratively with district leadership, staff, and the community as Fairbury Public Schools moves into its next chapter.
Stumpf has been married since 2001 to his wife, Kim, who works as a human resources professional at Salina Regional Hospital. The couple has three children.
