Beatrice man arrested on multiple charges, after domestic violence investigation

BEATRICE, Neb. - A Beatrice man was arrested Monday morning following a domestic violence call.
Beatrice Police arrested 58-year-old Miguel Garcia after officers responded to a 911 call in the 300 block of North Graham Street.
Police say officers made contact with Garcia at the scene and immediately encountered resistance. According to police, Garcia allegedly attempted to fight with officers and had to be taken to the ground after refusing commands.
Investigators later spoke with a woman identified as the victim, who reported physical assault. Police noted visible injuries consistent with her account. Two children were reportedly inside the home at the time of the incident.
Police say Garcia allegedly threatened the victim during the incident and warned her not to contact law enforcement. Officers also documented statements Garcia allegedly made following his arrest that included threats toward police.
While being booked at the jail, police say Garcia became increasingly agitated and again threatened officers. One officer reported sustaining a minor injury during the encounter.
Garcia was booked into the Gage County Jail on numerous charges including use of a weapon to commit a felony, second-degree domestic assault, strangulation, terroristic threat, resisting arrest, third-degree assault (including assault on an officer, false imprisonment, and obstruction
Court records indicate Garcia has a prior domestic violence-related arrest from 2020 in Florida.
The victim and Garcia were reportedly in a long-term relationship and share children.
Formal charges will be reviewed by the Gage County Attorney’s Office.
