BEATRICE – Two ambulances were sent to a southeast Nebraska injury accident, early Saturday night.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue and police responded to a wreck along U.S. Highway 77, involving a car and a sport utility vehicle.

Both ambulances took injured drivers to the nearby Beatrice Community Hospital, for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police investigating the collision said it happened when a westbound Dodge Journey failed to yield, pulling onto the northbound lanes where it was struck broadside by a Chrysler 200.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The collision happened around 5:30 p.m. on the four-lane divided highway at the intersection with Commerce Street.
