BEATRICE, Neb. - Less than three days after the Lady Orange fell to Grand Island Northwest in the Class B state championship game, Head Coach Gary Lytle has announced he is stepping down.

Since taking over the program in 2018, Lytle led Beatrice to a 196-56 record and a 2024 state championship, along with three additional state title appearances.

In a news release, Beatrice Activities Director Cale Kaiser expressed his gratitude for Lytle's efforts.

"Coach Lytle has left an incredible mark on our program," Kaiser said. "He has built a culture rooted in hard work, intergity and team-first values. His players have not only achieved success on the field, but have grown as leaders and young women under his direction."

Lytle says the program is in a prime position as he steps away.

"The program is in a great spot and I don't think it will skip a beat," Lytle said. "I don't have the right words to express how grateful I am and how much this program means to me. I look forward to watching the girls compete."
