FAIRBURY, Neb --A Fairbury man has been sentenced to three years in prison after admitting to physically and sexually abusing his teenage stepdaughter.

Brandon Myers

Brandon Myers, 42, received three years for intentional child abuse without injury and one year for third-degree sexual assault. The sentences will run at the same time, and he was credited for nearly four months already served. Myers could be released by late 2026.

He was originally arrested in May 2024 after his stepdaughter reported repeated abuse to a school counselor. Myers first pleaded not guilty but later changed his plea to no contest under a July plea deal.

During Thursday’s hearing in Jefferson County District Court, Judge David Bargen denied probation, citing the “dramatic harm” inflicted on the victim and the difficulty of recovering from such trauma. The courtroom was more crowded than usual, with about 15 people attending, including representatives from advocacy groups like CASA.

In addition to his prison term, Myers will be required to register as a sex offender for 15 years.

Back in January, the child’s mother and Brandon Myers’ wife, Bobbi, was sentenced to concurrent jail terms of 180 days for child abuse and 90 days for failure to report.
