BEATRICE, Neb. - A series of steady rain, accompanied by lightning led to a power outage on the west side of Beatrice early Thursday morning.
Electric Superintendent Pat Feist says a lightning strike led to a substation feeder tripping off line. This led to outages for the area west of the Big Blue River south of Court St.
"It took us a little while to find the location of where the lightning strike was and verify everything was good and we closed the breaker back in," Feist said. "The outage lasted about and hour and a half and affected 306 customers."
Of those 306, KWBE Radio was off air for approximately two hours.
