BEATRICE – Beatrice water department crews were working Saturday on a break in a water main in the downtown area.

It happened at 6th and Market and was expected to impact water service in the 100 and 200 blocks of South 6th.   The city cautioned on their Facebook page for motorists to be wary of lane closures and traffic shifts.

The water main break affected the southbound outside lane on 6th.

Also on water service, city officials announced some routine maintenance and restoration work will be getting underway on the city’s northeast water tower at 19th and Jackson, this week.  Crews are expected to be on site for two to three months.
