Marcia Ann Sitterley

Marcia Ann Sitterley, 66, of Beatrice, joined her heavenly family on Friday, April 18, 2025. She was born on September 11, 1958, to Ernest and Ruth (Jurgens) Hroch in Beatrice. Marcia graduated from Barneston High School in 1976 and went on to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from UNL in 1981. Marcia was a certified med aide and had also received a certificate of pre-school teaching with the Montessori Education system. She married Tom L. Sitterley on her birthday in 1982. They met while working at KWBE in Beatrice. To this union, two children were born, Amy and Ryan. In 1987, they moved to Platte Center to raise their children. During this time, she and Tom were devoted to Amy and Ryan’s activities. While in Platte Center, Marcia worked at a bridal shop and as a Montessori teacher. She returned to Beatrice in 2006 and was working at Walmart at the time of her death. Marcia enjoyed her coworkers, her family, and was an avid Husker fan.
Those left to mourn her passing include her children, Amy (Garren) Hochstetler and Ryan (Tiffany) Sitterley; her grandson, Rylee; mother, Ruth Hroch; siblings, Marc (Bobbie) Hroch, Ernest (Renee) Hroch, Monica (James) Ullman, and Laura (Jason) Baxa; sister-in-law, Susan (Don) Bowzer; brother-in-law, George (Bernie) Sitterley; nieces and nephews, Connor Hroch, Emily (Tad) and Harper Meyer, Daltyn, Darcy and Drew Hroch, Ethen (Courtney) and Kolsen Hroch, Elyjah (Tasha), Lenni, Cohen and Crew Hroch, James Cole Ullman, Jayme Ullman (Marcus), Robin (Brandon) Foster, Franklin and Weston Foster, Codie (Zach) Fletcher, and Carlie (Taylor) and Jones Nelson, Beth Sitterley, and Eric (Claire) Sitterley; numerous cousins and other relatives; companion dog, Buffy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Sitterley, who died on July 31, 2001; father, Ernest Hroch, Sr.; infant brother, Michael; uncle, Eugene Jurgens; aunt, Doris VanWinkle.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, April 25, 2025 at the Fox Funeral Home with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be at a later date at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery Grand Prairie of rural Platte Center. Cremation has taken place but a book for signatures will be available on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from noon until 8:00 P.M. at the Fox Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
