Karen Louise Schneider entered this world on September 8, 1939.  She was born in Deshler, Nebraska to Erwin and Mathilda Torbeck.  She was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at her home in 1939.  She graduated from Deshler High School in 1957.  Karen moved to Lincoln, Nebraska after graduation and began to work at Security Mutual Insurance.  She married her first husband of 10 years, Larry Konz, and became a mother to Sharon Louise Konz, and Michael Todd Konz.  She then met the love of her life Galen Schneider and they were married at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Lincoln on August 29, 1976.  They then made their home in Fairbury Nebraska.  Karen enjoyed reading, cooking, church activities, women’s groups, friends and especially her family.  She always had a smile and a cup of coffee for any visitor that came by.

Karen is survived by her brother Kenneth Torbeck of Deshler, loving son Michael (Michelle) Konz of Lincoln, Daughter Rhonda (Dick) Manthei of Deshler, in laws Linda Hug, Delta (Gordon) Budt, Eldonna Budt, Curtis (Pat) Schneider, grandchildren Taber (Jackson) Cashion, Zachary Konz, Jeremy (Erin) Manthei, Jenifer (Brent) Gloria, and Jewel (Martin) Gonzalez.  She had 5 great grandchildren with a great granddaughter to arrive in July which she was very excited about.  She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and countless good friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents Erwin and Mathilda Torbeck, her loving husband Galen Schneider, in laws Mervin and Elzada Schneider, sister in law Donna Torbeck, brother in law Kenny Hug and Wayne Budt, and her beloved daughter Sharon Louise Konz.  

She touched a lot of peoples lives with her smile, her faith and her quick whit.  If you spoke with Karen either by phone or in person she never said goodbye without telling you she loved you.

Services will be Friday April 18, 2025 at 10:30 at Grace Lutheran Church and the family will greet friends at the funeral home from 5 – 7 on Thursday evening. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
