Marlene A. Dorn

Marlene Ann Dorn, 87, of Beatrice passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Gold Crest Retirement Center of Adams. She was born on September 19, 1937, in Beatrice to Gerald and Emma (Giesman) Titkemeier. Marlene was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Clatonia and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Seward. On August 14, 1955, Donald and Marlene were married at Zion Lutheran Church, Clatonia. To this union six children were born. She received her teaching certificate from Concordia College, Seward and then taught for a couple of years at Rockford School. She worked for many years at the Beatrice State Developmental Center as a CSM and para-educator at Beatrice Public Schools. She was involved in the Filley and Beatrice Extension Clubs, 4-H and Open Class. Marlene loved following her kids and grandkids in many activities, sporting events, FFA and 4-H projects. She enjoyed playing Pitch and Pinochle and loved to laugh and spend time with friends and family. Marlene was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Beatrice where she was an organist for 50 + years and involved in the choir and ladies aid.
Survivors include her four daughters, Barbara (DeVern) Pohlmann, DeWitt, Jackie (Kerry) Kronebusch, Germantown, WI, Patty (Roger) Folkerts, Beatrice, Lisa (Terry) Wallman, Pickrell; two sons, Douglas (Rhonda) Dorn, Filley and Daniel (Kristine) Dorn, Roca; grandchildren, Jason (Emily) Pohlmann, Pam (Brett) Mueller, Jessica (Tim) Hochmuth, Ann (Alex) Stark, Katie (Jordan) Hilleshiem, Christa (Weston) Dyrssen, Amy (Tony) Oltman, Tami (Chris) Sobotka, Joni (Jason) Folkerts, Brooke (Josh) Jensen, Mallory (Kaleb) Sekutura, Devin Dorn, Amber Dorn, Dawson Dorn and Garret Dorn; great- grandchildren, Dayton, Wyatt and Ellie Pohlmann, Ryker, Blake, Ryanne and Camden Mueller, Rose and Noah Hochmuth, Zachary and Liam Stark, Lilah and Rowan Hilleshiem, Greyson and Sadie Dyrssen, Caleb, Macy and Kali Oltman, Lily, Chloe and Leah Sobotka, Austin and Alexis Folkerts, Connor and Micah Jensen, Mavis Dorn and Karoline Sekutera and; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Remmers and Doris DeVries; many other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Emma Titkemeier; husband, Donald (2013); four grandsons, twins, Jonathan and Timothy, Austin and Connor Wallman; sister, Eleanor (Robert) Oltman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Justin Dauck officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery of rural Clatonia. A family prayer service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the family for future designation. The body will lie in state from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday and then at the church one hour preceding the services on Thursday.
