BEATRICE – A Kansas man was injured in a one-vehicle accident near Cortland, Nebraska…last Saturday afternoon.  Gage County Sheriff’s officials released information on the accident, which happened around 4:45 p.m., at Nebraska Highway 41 and South 12th Road, two miles south of Cortland.

A 2005 Ford Econoline van driven by 39-year-old Victor Manuel Segura-Gutierrez…swerved off Highway 41, rolling over and ejecting the driver from the vehicle.

Segura-Gutierrez was taken by rescue personnel to Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln for treatment of injuries.  Investigators say at the time of the accident, the weather was changing with a light mist falling on the highway.  Some areas of southeast Nebraska were beginning to see slick road conditions, in advance of a winter storm.

Authorities suspect the driver was traveling too fast for road and weather conditions. Segura-Gutierrez, authorities suspect, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
