Heaviest snowfall...corner of SE Nebraska...and in NE Kansas
BEATRICE – Let the melting begin. It may take awhile because weekend winter storm and blizzard conditions will be followed by bone-chilling cold for the first half of this week.
Parts of southeast and northeast Nebraska were included in a cold weather advisory Monday, with wind chills as low as minus-20, expected.
Most of the Nebraska snow totals from the storm were lighter than expected, but the southeast corner of Nebraska seemed to bear the brunt of the storm with five to seven inches…..one observer reporting 16 inches of snow near Falls City.
Farther into northeast Kansas, some of the heavier amounts ranged from ten to seventeen inches of snow.
Areas in Nebraska along Interstate 80 received just an inch or two…from Grand Island to Lincoln. From Lincoln to Nebraska City, similar amounts were reported along Nebraska Highway Two.
Topping the chart across the region….18 inches of snow at Seneca, St. George and Chapman, Kansas….all in northeast Kansas….along or north of Interstate 70.
