Doane University wrestler Karina Vang is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Wrestler-of-the-Week. Vang, a junior from Fresno, California, won four matches and took second place at the Conner/Oppenheim Doane Open. She posted a 10-5 win over fourth-ranked Judy Sandoval of Grand View in the semifinals. Vang recorded an additional two wins by pin and a tech fall. Her lone loss in the tournament came to top-ranked Erin Hikiji, the 2024 NAIA national runner-up.

One of the best wrestling programs in the NAIA, Doane has now had at least one wrestler earn a weekly award in three of the last four weeks. Last weekend's open was the final event for Vang and the Tiger women in 2024; they'll return to competition at the NWCA National Duals on January 10th and 11th in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
