BEATRICE – One person was killed in a broadside collision in northeast Kansas, Saturday…in Nemaha County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the victim, 35-year-old William Novotny of Lawrence was riding in a 2017 Honda CRV traveling west on U.S. Highway 36, when it was struck broadside by a southbound vehicle that had failed to stop at a sign.

The southbound 2017 Ram Truck was driven by 37-year-old Mark Ditmers, of Washington, Kansas. He was taken to the Hiawatha, Kansas Hospital with suspected serious injuries. 36-year-old Jonathan Ditmers was also taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the westbound Honda…33-year-old Taylar Deere-Novotny, of Lawrence was taken to the Sabetha, Kansas Hospital with serious injuries. A three-year-old girl riding in the Honda had minor injuries.

The accident occurred at around 11:40 a.m. Saturday, 4.7 miles west of Fairview, Kansas.
