'Got to break through': Huskers look to end bowl drought, losing streak to Badgers on Senior Day
LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska has a chance to end both an eight year bowl drought and a losing streak to Wisconsin that dates back to 2012.
Nebraska enters off yet another one score loss, falling to USC 28-20 this past Saturday. The Huskers gave up four plays of 20 yards or more, but Head Coach Matt Rhule isn't blaming bad luck, but is preaching better discipline and fundamentals.
"We're not snake bit, we're not unlucky, there's no curse... You have to play the defense called," Rhule said. "If it's cover three play cover three, you don't guess and play cover four. There weren't a lot of times when we were playing man and we just couldn't cover the guy, it was those things."
The Huskers have another opportunity to put a rough stretch behind them, and they can do it on Senior Day. With a win on Saturday, Nebraska can get bowl eligible for the first time since 2016, end a 12 year win-less streak at the hands of the Badgers and snap a four game losing streak.
Nebraska enters the game 5-5, with an equal record to when the Badgers and Huskers met last year in Madison. Coach Rhule and the Huskers will look to come out on the winning end, after dropping last years contest 24-17 in overtime.
"We're in the same spot as last year, you've got to break through," Rhule said. "We had every right to win the game last week... That's three straight games where we've had the ball on the last drive. Going to have to figure out how to win the game."
Nebraska and Wisconsin kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on BTN.
